Bale-Raising

Considering what we all were doing and thinking on this date three years ago with everyone here helping with these walls, it was beyond words to stand and watch a building going up, instead of remembering those that went down....

We started early on Satuday morning with a photo of us all while we were still not quite awake:

We started with the first bale, with a penny underneath for good luck (heads up, of course).

we had tile painting for all the kids:

food

and other essentials.

Some folks really used their head:

and some, their feet:

We had flashes from the Wizard of Oz
(remember the flying monkeys pulling Scarecrow apart?)...

...and of confusion

Everybody worked hard

and, sometimes, in odd places:

and at the end of the day, these folks

made this shell into a home.
